Both are about a widowed princess/duchess with a son in danger from a plotting Evil Person who wants to steal the crown. I have to say, however, that I liked this one better. While their travelling across the French countryside becomes a little tedious after two hundred pages of it, Eva is an interesting character - she is not all haughtiness. Jack has a secret side as well, although it is not terribly well developed and we don't get to see it until the very end. Although slow-moving in places, this is an enjoyable read. I would agree with Anniik that there were parts of the story that flagged but overall this was an interesting story of a couple trying very hard to satisfy themselves and live up to the roles thrust upon them by life. Eva the Grand Duchess of Maubourg (probably more accurately the Dowager Grand Duchess of Maubourg) is a widow, her son is in England being educated and her brother-in-law, or someone else, seems determined to grasp the throne for himself. Jack Ryder is dispached to fetch her to England and to protect her from her enemies. However he finds himself quite attracted, but where would he figure in the world she lives in? Fun, some dragged out scenes but overall a satisfying read. This book has a great deal in common with Anne Gracie's The Stolen Princess. He knows that escorting the haughty Grand Duchess of Maubourg to England will not be an easy task. But Jack Ryder, spy and adventurer, believes he is more than capable of managing Her Serene Highness. He's not prepared for her beauty, her youth, or the way that her sensual warmth shines through her cold facade. And what started as just another mission is rapidly becoming something far more personal.... Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
