While I haven't watched The Deadliest Catch often (just on occasion), I appreciated the author's realism in his storytelling away from the show. Reality shows are often scripted, and while I know the book has been edited, it felt a lot more realistic to me than a scripted show. Either way, I enjoyed reading the book and would definitely recommend it to fans of the show. I thoroughly enjoyed this book about the the Hillstrand brothers, Johnathan and Andy, and their crab boat Time Bandit. It was told in the firm of a flashback, Johnathan is stranded in his salmon boat for several days, facing an imminent threat at sea. John thinks about his harsh upbringing by an abusive crab captain father is n Homer, Alaska, the building of the Time Bandit, the fisherman he's know and were lost at sea. As a fan of the tv show Deadliest Catch, I was attracted to the book, even though the Time Bandit is no longer on the show. The book was a nice quick read. If you are a fan of the show "Deadliest Catch", then this is the book for you. It is the story of John and Andy Hillstrand, owners of the crabbing boat "Time Bandit". You learn how they were born into fishing and continued their father's legacy by building their own boat. You also learn a lot about their personal lives. What it takes to run a boat, hire a crew and catch crab. Pictures are included as well. Anything you want to know about crab fishing is in this book. You will laugh, cry, and appreciate all that these men do. Reading this book, you have to wonder how the Hillstands actually made it to adulthood. The book backs up the Hillstrand persona from the series. It's a quick read, and entertaining at times, but don't set your expectations high. Worth a read while you're waiting for the next series of Deadliest Catch to start. Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. This is the story of brothers Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand and their Bering sea crabbing boat the Time Bandit. You may think these names sound familiar - that's because they're one of five crews who are also part of the Discovery Channel's The Deadliest Catch.Crabbing, according to the brothers, is like the most extreme of extreme sports. The book is really gripping and chilling, and was an enjoyable read the way Into Thin Air was; if you put aside your horror at what these people are doing, they are truly amazing individuals, much, much different from you and I. I learned a lot about fishing and crabbing, as well as a lot about Alaska. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
Among those who are drawn to risk their lives and seek their fortunes upon the waves, perhaps none take more chances than the men and women who brave the tempestuous, bountiful waters of the Bering Sea. Season after season, they battle with its icy depths, determined to reap yet one more harvest while eluding the ever-present threat of sudden death. If you've watched the exploits of brothers Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand on TV's Deadliest Catch, you've only scratched the surface. To read this book is to step into their skins, smell the sea air, feel the frigid wind, and know with all your senses the exhilarating, and terrifying life on the edge.--From publisher description.
