The art's kind of bad and the writing is as well, but it's neat to see how the series began. The world-building elements are interesting and I've seen enough of the parts of the anime that better adapt the manga that I'm willing to stick around to those. If you really love Sebastian/Ciel, this is for you, and the anime did a pretty decent job of adapting this. But otherwise it's just... kind of uninteresting. I must admit I was disappointed. Having watched the anime I knew the beginning was slow, but still I expected the plot to start sooner in the manga. Unfortunately that was not what happened and this first volume felt just like random everyday situations for these characters without giving away anything about the story. It didn't show much about the characters personality either so I really gained nothing from it. The art is pretty at least. I am just sad because I remembered liking the anime for the most part and I was expecting more. I am unsure if I will continue since I fear it will continue to be a lot of stalling until we get to the good parts. Wow, I think I have a crush on the Black Butler. . . how did that happen? He's not real! This was weird and quirky and took awhile to get into, but I liked it. It's about - well, a butler. A larger than life, kick-ass butler who surely can't be human, can he? He fought off gun-toting Italian gangsters with forks and table knives while hanging from the chandelier. . . . His young master is the head of the Phantomhive family and it takes place in an alternate Victorian England that seems to be mixing up the timeline a little bit. The rest of the staff provides the comic relief but that was the only thing I found a bit distracting. Definitely reading on in this series!
As a Black Butler fan from 2016, I must say that even though the manga/Volumes may not be as a good as the anime, I promise it does get better, and it does get more interesting as you carry on. And I can say the anime will make it even better. But don't drop Black Butler Overall just because of one volume, please carry on, because it is worth it. "Just a stone's throw from London lies the manor house of the illustrious Phantomhive earldom and its master, one Ciel Phantomhive. Earl Phantomhive is a giant in the world of commerce, Queen Victoria's faithful servant ... and a slip of a twelve-year-old boy. Fortunately, his loyal butler, Sebastian, is ever at his side, ready to carry out the young master's wishes. And whether Sebastian is called to save a dinner party gone awry or probe the dark secrets of London's underbelly, there apparently is nothing Sebastian cannot do. In fact, one might even say Sebastian is too good to be true .. or at least, too good to be human ..."--p. [4] of cover. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
