'Tis the season for passion and intrigue in these four festive Christmas novellas by four outstanding authors--including a Lieutenant Eve Dallas story from #1 New York Times bestselling author J. D. Robb. In J. D. Quick formulaic but a good read. It did fill a void in my list ( )

This book is a collection of four Christmas themed novellas/short stories. Published in 1998, it has 340 pages.
The first story written by Claire Cross- "A Berry Merry Christmas" was not the best story to lead off with. This story,in my opinion, was a rip off of the "Elf" movie. This one might appeal to an younger reader, but for me it was just too silly.
The second story was written by Dee Holmes- "The Unexpected Gift" was a quite a bit more mature, but still felt rushed and the story was weak.
The third story was written by Susan Plunkett- "Christmas Promises"
was a really good one, but for some it may have been a little too dark for a Christmas time book. But, I liked it.
The last story was a J.D. Robb installment of the Eve Dallas "In Death" series.
Of course this was the best story of the lot, but still not up to Robb's usual standards.
The four stories didn't compliment each other at all. They were just too diverse. The first two were lighter, the last two darker.
Overall a C. ( )

A quartet of Christmas-related stories. Three are forgettable, but the fourth is finds detective Eve Dallas on a holiday outing with a serial killer who fancies himself a scientific prodigy in the study of pain. Escaped from his maximum security cell, he's made a list of his own... and Eve's name is on it.

Not a necessary purchase unless you want the complete set, but an enjoyable read. ( )

I got this book mainly for J D Robb and was surprised that it was a short story with three others. Quite an accomplished feat for such a mini read, as the detail in what the serial killer was torturing his victims had me shuddering at times. Good story, though
The other 3 stories were OK. The first one by Claire Cross wasn't really much but it did, unexpectedly, tug at the heartstrings a little, dammit! ( )
