Like the Bertie Bott’s Any-Flavour Beans beloved of Harry Potter, this quartet of thrillers is full of surprises and it’s only when you have tasted one, as it were, that you know if you have chosen a rosebud or an earwax flavour. Gerald Seymour, as prolific as Patterson but more talented, has proved as dependable as ever with Timebomb: as solid, tasty and reliable as a cheese and pickle sandwich, the story has a very ‘moreish’ flavour. British undercover agent Jonathan Carrick is placed as a bodyguard with a London-based Russian Mafiya money-launderer, and forced to go to Eastern Europe to take delivery of a suitcase bomb stolen years before by disaffected Soviet soldiers. The editing may leave something to be desired but the book is interesting and convincing, full of thrills and all-too-human moments of doubt and frailty: Seymour is indeed, as critics have dubbed him, ‘a brilliant storyteller’. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
In 1992, a KGB man buried a nuclear suitcase bomb. 16 years later he has found a buyer for it. An exchange point is agreed upon. Travelling with the buyer is an undercover policeman, working for MI6. It becomes clear to a top psychiatrist at MI6 that their man may be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, putting the operation in jeopardy. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

Seymour masterfully weaves a thriller from these threads and infuses the story with holocaust history, complex characters, and a drum-tight plot. ( )
