Although I do believe that it is important for children to understand some of the natural elements of certain ecosystems, this book was way too short. I really enjoyed how this author incorporated illustrations on get her point across with camouflage, however the ending was abrupt and seemed rushed. The pace was gradual and well-establish at first and then the last page ended with a bunch of new information. Nevertheless, the illustrations were excellent representations of each animal camouflaging. One of the elements that I did not like was the writing portion. As stated before, the author took her time in talking about each reptile and the way that they camouflaged. The flow was produced well until the very ending of the book. Each page focused on one aspect, either the reptile or the way that the reptile camouflages. However, on the very last page of the book the author just tells the readers an overwhelming amount of information about the hostile environment and how some animals need to hide for survival and how other need to be discreet in order to catch their dinner. The big idea of this book is to teach children about camouflage and how animals hide in the wilderness in order to protect themselves from the harsh habitat. Good variety of reptiles, and wonderful use of brief text and striking illustrations. Children enjoy looking at this book after reading or read aloud. Note that all books in this series start and end with the same text! Good tie-in to introduce other animal groups that utilize camouflage. This is a good book for integration of language arts and science. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
