Though some people think a good book must have some thing that makes people think deeply, I do think some times a book is goog just beacause you feel good when you read it. Actually, The Dream and Other Stories is one of them. The stories in this book is quite interesting, they cover from how a strange dream effect one's life to crazy birds attack people. I like the last one which is about birds attacking, it's so exciting that I can't stop reading. While another story which is about a man who wants to kill his aunt for her money, the ending is so unexpected. Well, I really like this book, hope you can like it as well! ( )

This book has wide variety of stories about humanity. Each story is self-contained. It tells me different oppions of the life. Also, it teaches many lessons about the life. It's unreal but profound implication. I think it's a good book to read! ( )

One of the stories in this book called: The blind man ..
it's talking about a man who lost his sight in a war in France
which he became a very sensitive, scared and quietly man
but they had been very happy .. ( he and his wife )
his wife wrote few times in newspaper and her blind husband worked in the farm doing simple work. this thing gave him satisfaction.
his wife sometimes feels that she is going crazy and sometimes her husband became despairing. she tried to continue but it was too much for her so she looked for a way out . she invited friends and she tried to let her husband connects with the other world specially that she is having her second baby. her first baby died when her husband was in France. so, she looked forward to the coming of the second.but she felt a little anxious. the child would take her love and attention and the what about her husband ?!! she invited her dearest and oldest friend who doesn't get along with her husband ! they are totally different. her friend was a lawyer, a thoughtful type with a quick mind. her husband was slow and sensitive and a big heavy man. because of that she decided to end up her relationship with her close friend and there had been no communication for almost two years. but later on, there is a note came from her friend and he wrote of the real pain he felt about her husband blindness. the wife was nervous when she read the note and she read to her husband and ask him to invite her friend to come. and he said " yes, if he wants to " after she invited him they were having their dinner and her husband was eating silently. after that they were sitting in the sitting room and it was quiet strange.
so her husband said to her : " do you mind, if i go to speak to the farm manager "and he walked away .. there was only the wife and her friend sitting without talking . after that her friend went to see her husband because his wife was worrying about him so he found him in the stable sitting alone !
there was a small, strange conversation between two of them .
when they turn to the house to see the wife she was shocked because her husband was smiling and he was with her friend which is a little bit weird. her husband said " we have became a friends " !!
after that her friend start to come to their house every night. the wife felt with some strange feelings to her friend like a love feeling. she thinks that their old love could come back again!
she cheated her blind husband with her friend. but the farm manager saw them together and he couldn't keep this secret to his self without telling her husband about it. after her husband knew he didn't want her anymore and he told her that she can keep the baby cause he thinks that this baby is not his. she got married her oldest friend. This book is a collection of twentieth-century short stories,it cover different kinds of characters as well.but the main interest in all these stories lies in the way that different situations bring out the best or the worst in people, such as a jealous wife,a lonely lawer,a greedy young man and so on.Many of them have endings which are unusual or unexpected.
In a word, this book is deserve to be read, these short stories are amusing and shocking, they all show how people behave in real life.believe it or not,as soon as you read it,you like it at the first minute. ( )
