The Hardy Boys must find out why those at the Elekton plant are so secretive. They are challenged throughout, but in the end, they nab the bad guys at just the right time. These books are just easy and fun to read. Highly recommend. ***March 10, 2019*** (Read with Jonathan) Writing: 4.5; the writing is good and intriguing, although it is a little dated, with terminology that belongs in the era that this book was written. Theme: 4.5; the Hardy brothers tackle a counterfeiting case that appears to be linked to an old mill being used by a high-tech space program, yet they are surprised when dangerous threats begin to appear, warning the boys and their father, who is working on a secret case; as they uncover the details behind both cases, the Hardy boys run into trouble with dangerous characters and uncover the secrets of the old mill. Content: 5.0; some mild scuffling and dangerous encounters between the Hardy boys, their friends, and their enemies. Language: 5.0; nothing objectionable. In the third Hardy Boys mystery, the successful boy detectives encounter a new case when their friend Chet is swindled into taking a counterfeit bill. As they dig deeper into the mystery, the Hardys discover that their father is working on a top-secret mission for the government involving the Elekton space program. Soon several warnings appear to the Hardys, their father, and their friends, telling them to drop their case. Unsure of which case the messenger means -- Mr. Hardy's or the boys' -- the two intrepid sleuths continue to investigate, finding that the clues all lead back to an old mill being used by Elekton. The book, like most Hardy Boys novels, is a very quick and easy read that is able to keep readers intrigued enough to keep on. However, the book does suffer from some dated writing (as these were written in the '20s), and I do find some of the things pretty outrageous -- for instance, the Hardys and their pals are able to beat down on a couple of armed foes, rather easily I might add. Still, the book is intriguing and offers an interesting mystery that is sure to enthrall younger readers and keep the interest of older ones. Recommended for fans of the other books and anyone looking to read a quick and intriguing mystery. ***Finished March 14, 2019*** sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
