Mehdi's little tome is thirty-eight very small pages with generous thirteen-point type. In other words, this is a short story. "On a buffety, blustery, early summer day, when the news was bad and the sky turned yellow, a strange thing happened in the town where I live." That's how it starts, and if I tell you more, I'm in danger of this little review being longer than the little book, which, incidentally, deserves its own cover, its own place in the sun, not trapped with other stories to detract from it. The publishers say it's "a story for anyone who thinks she can't save the world." (

Story is reminiscent of Margaret Mead's famous words "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." The book is very small, only 46 pages, and the story is so simple and direct that it can't be summarized. The author's tale about how the story came to be is just as wonderful. (
