He built his own model planes, to a test pilot, to being the well-known astronaut responsible for the famous line “a giant leap for man kind”. Personal Reaction: The personal aspect of his life reminded me no matter how different you are from a person, we both have problems and stresses. It was interesting when I learned something new. Classroom Extensions: 1)the students write about problems or stresses they have as a kid people might not think they would have. 2)the students write what they think they would have thought or felt while watching the famous landing. "Who is Neil Armstrong" is a well written book that talks about the life of Neil Armstrong leading up to when he became the first man to step foot on the Moon. This is a great book to introduce children to the idea of space exploration and to also talk about an American hero that helped to pioneer space travel. An activity that could be done with this book in the classroom would be to have children create their own space shuttle that they would want to take to the Moon. For older children you could have them actually build a space shuttle out of materials and create a 3-D model. Summary: Who was Neal Armstrong? is an easy read chapter book mean for young children. Personal Review: I was not a fan of the book, I enjoyed reading the book but thought that more background information could have been incorporated in the book. I do have to remember that this book is a children’s chapter book and needed to be age appropriate and friendly to that age group. Classroom Extension: This would be a great book to introduce when talking about space. All children should know the pioneer of space travel. Classroom Extension: This book would be great for a book report and be able to share with the class their project. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
