Rocky Mountain Miracle is a standlone by Christine Feehan. This is a story about healing and finding love in the Christmas season. The setup of the story is that the hero, Cole Steele, his father was murdered, and he was left his estate and his younger brother. Both Cole and his brother were both abused by their father, and while they are both innocent, they are still working on trying to live a normal life. Then Cole meets a young woman at a bar, who is different from anyone else that he has ever met before. Our heroine, Maia, is a Vet but also has the ability to speak to animals. I really just love these two together. There is such great family bonds in this one. There is a bit of a mystery. There is some animal abuse, so keep that in mind going into this one here. I really enjoyed the Christmas aspects and especially in seeing them find the magic of Christmas especially as both males just need that feminine influence. The romance itself is a bit lacking in this one, I just couldn't seem to connect to this one.

Overall I found Rocky Mountain Miracle to be an enjoyable read, and while not my favorite Feehan, it was a fascinating one and I would have loved to see the brother get a book. ( )

"4.5 out of 5 stars! Cole comes “home” after his father is murdered to take over as guardian for his teenage brother (Jase). Both Cole and Jase have dealt with a violent upbringing at the hands of their father, while they are happy he’s now dead and knowing they weren’t the ones who killed him, they struggle to move on from the demons their father left behind. Yet, when fate brings Maia (the local traveling veterinarian) into their lives, Cole finds it hard to ignore how perfect she is and how she fits right in with them. Now if only Cole can make it through the holiday season (a time period he absolutely hates) and protect both Jase and Maia from those from his father’s past who have plans of revenge…

This slightly paranormal contemporary romance quickly sweeps you up into its intrigue; just as fast as Cole got Maia onto the dance floor…aka lightening quick. I was unsure what to expect of this novel, but soon found it had the same charisma Ms. Feehan puts into all of her novels, especially her Dark Series."

"Rocky Mountain Miracle" by Christine Feehan

Book Description....

"No Christmas will ever be the same after Cole and Maia meet on a snowy western ranch… Find out why in #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan’s romantic holiday e-novella!

When Cole Steele, a womanizer rumored to have killed his father, meets Maia Armstrong, a veterinarian rumored to practice magic, the sizzling romance could melt all the snow on his Wyoming ranch. And when an injured horse brings them together, Cole can’t help but believe that Maia casts spells on animals—and men. What else could explain the burning passion he feels for her and the thawing of his heart just in time for Christmas?"

What I liked about the novel....

This was one of those stories that once you start reading you will find it hard to put down. I found the story one that was rather a sad one but I will say it did have some lightness that would put a smile on your face as you are reading through the read. Yes, it was a romance but there was a lots more to this storyline. The author did a amazing job as she brings to life this story of Cole, his brother Jase and then there will be a healer in the form of a traveling veterinarian named Maia. We find from the read that the Steele brothers were in the need of much healing for these two guys. Why was that? Then here comes a lady with some very special gifts that will greatly help the two Steele brothers. In the end ... well this is where I will say I don't want to spoil it because I want you to pick up this good read to see for yourself how well this author brings it all out to the reader.

This was definitely one of those reads that wasn't all a happy read. I did find it rough at times but as the read flows the reader will be ale to see just what all this author had in mind for the reader to be able to understand about life bringing out their lows, strengths as well as there support for each other. This read will include a paranormal (pet psychic) that was brought into the read that I found quite interesting and it was done so well in the flow of the read. Now, I want the reader to be aware that there will be child abuse issues that will be a very sensitive subject addressed. Also, there will be mysteries going on at this ranch that will have you guessing or trying to guess who was doing this? Yes, there is some hot steamy sex between....well I will let you read it for yourself to find out in the end all of the mysteries and seeing if there will be a happy ever after. Be ready for a little of it all...abuse, sorrow, hate, mysteries, twists, emotions, paranormal, humor, romance, and yes....in the end a new life for all. Would I recommend "Rocky Mountain Miracle?" YES! ( )

ROCKY MOUNTAIN MIRACLE is rather dark for a Christmas romance, but I loved that it packed such an emotional wallop. Cole Steele and his 14-year old brother, Jace, suffered years of abuse by their cruel father, but it comes to an end when he is murdered. Now Cole has custody, but the two brothers are left struggling to cope with some heavy emotional scars.

Enter Maia, a traveling veterinarian with a supernatural gift for communicating with animals. She comes to the Steele’s ranch to save an injured horse, but a blizzard hits, and she ends up stranded there over Christmas. Maia quickly realizes that it’s Cole and Jace that need saving from their dead father’s hold.

This was a quick read that easily pulled me in. Cole and Maia seemed an unlikely couple at first, with Cole’s caveman tendencies and Maia’s solitary ways, but things heated up between them nicely. I also enjoyed the mystery surrounding the father’s death and some recent unexplained happenings on the ranch. Their being trapped on a remote ranch in a blizzard added to the suspense.

The ending made me teary-eyed, but in a good way. Though the characters suffered much tragedy in their lives, the ending is hopeful. Definitely a different kind of Christmas romance.

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ( )
