A spin-off from the Gossip Girl series featuring Jenny Humphries, but this can easily be read without any familiarity with those books or the TV series.

I don’t know that I actually liked any of the characters here, they were pretty much all a little too morally challenged to be truly likable, all willing to manipulate, blackmail, cheat, gossip, etc. I did enjoy that none of the three main girls are doormats, nobody’s going to get away with pushing them around, so that’s a plus, and even if I didn’t necessarily care about these characters, I was consistently curious to see what would happen, how their schemes would play out, whether anyone would ever do the decent thing.

There were definitely areas where this could have gone more in depth, like exploring just how damaging gossip and speculation on a girl’s sex life can be or how dangerous dating an older guy can be, but this is just not that kind of book, in that sense, even though this tries to be a bit edgier, this reminded me somewhat of old school YA like Sweet Valley and Sweet Dreams, stories that may occasionally mention something serious but would never really dig into that stuff instead focusing on fashion, boy craziness, backstabbing friends and popularity, which is fine, not every book needs to delve into difficult things, sometimes I’m not in the mood to delve into those kinds of things either and that’s where books like this one come in handy.

This may not rate as one of my favorite reads of the year, but it did entertain and since I own the second book someday I’ll probably gladly reach for it when I just want to indulge in something quick and breezy, where people are kind of awful but nothing too too awful ultimately happens. ( )

Not normally a book I would go for but I needed something out of the usual fantasy style novels so I chose this.

It girl follows a newbie to Waverly, her name is Jenny and she gets put in a room with two of the most popular girls in the boarding school. She hasn't had the best start though, her stuff has been dropped off in the boys dorm as the school mistakenly thought she was a Mr not a Miss, and to top it off there's already rumors going round that she was a stripper!!

It girl follows Jenny and her two roomies Brett and Callie through a short easy read of school drama and bitchiness, and it doesn't stop there.

Overall It girl was exactly as expected, the writing was simplistic and whilst I wouldn't say it was great story telling it did keep me somewhat interested, mostly because the characters are all relatable. I did have one little issue though, every page pretty much brings up at least one designer name, It got on my nerves quite a bit but I will let it slide because I liked the chapter titles. I did expect there to be more bitchiness and typical high school banter than what was given but maybe thats all to follow in the next few books to this series.

I wouldn't rush to buy the next one but its certainly going to be bought for another light read. Im pretty sure the second one will be a lot more gripping though. ( )

Loved it! it was a quick read and I enjoyed it. Never thought I would. I wasn't too sure what it was about. I'm happy I got start from book one! This is cute story of a girls climb up the social ladder and how she moves and shakes up an entire community. The little sub plots with the other girls keeps things ripe and moving. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest! ( )

This is a serious guilty pleasure for me, I shouldn't like it but I do. Its surprisingly funny and totally engrossing. I love the likes of Heath, Easy and Brett. This is much better than Gossip Girl, although, this is ghost-written, so why should I be surprised? ( )
