Nancy Wood is a noted poet. She has won many awards, including a literature fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts and the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award. The gorgeous painted illustrations are by Frank Howell, known for his portraits of Native Americans and evocative landscapes. He has exhibited throughout the United States and Mexico. Divided into the twelve months of the year, this work includes not only thought provoking poems, but a meditation for each month. The one for June ends with, "Listening means hearing the voice within you. It never fails to tell you the truth, even if you don't want to hear it."
