This is a sing a long book that starts out with Lincoln's childhood, to adulthood and then goes on to talk about his political career. They included many significant career aspects in his life like the abolishment of slavery, his presidential role and his most famous speeches. I love that this book also included small details of his childhood like his quirky personality and his hobbies growing up. I definitely see a kindergarten or first grade class having so much fun singing along to this book. This would be a great book to include in a lesson plan when learning about Lincoln. Because this book is a song it will leave a lasting impression on students. A well through book written as song lyrics. Abe Lincoln was one of the few bearded presidents who was assassinated. In the book, the author, Aylesworth tells us about Abraham's exemplary personality. He was well known for his wisdom and trustworthiness. A president that signed the Emancipation Proclamation in September 22, 1826 as a step leading to end slavery in America forever. He was also exemplary in signing as a step to ending slavery in America. A good book to read to children in a Social studies class grades K-3 as a sing-a-long, and to celebrate the American History. Summary: The book give accounts of Mr. Lincoln's life starting off and into his presidency. He was born in the wilderness. He was praised for his honesty. He was sent to Washington to be president. He ended slavery gave his Gettysburg Address speech. Personal Reaction: The book gave information on the life of Abe Lincoln and his presidency. I thought the book would be comical seeing the pictures. As I began to read it provided events of Abe Lincoln's life. Extension Ideas: 1. List presidents up to Abe Lincoln 2. Smaller children count up to the number Abe Lincoln was as president. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

I liked this book because it has a rhythmic verse that repeats throughout the book. Also, the book flows telling a logical sequence of Abe Lincoln’s life.
The book starts with his life as a young child saying he was born in the wilderness. Also talks about how he spoke grand words at Gettysburg. It ends with saying he has died hard for his noble deeds. It is a logical sequence of things he has done throughout his childhood, then his young Abe life up to his accomplishments as a president.
The author also uses rhythmic verse to make the story have a repeating pattern. For example, “Babe Abe Lincoln was born in the wilderness. Born in the wilderness. Born in the wilderness. Babe Abe Lincoln was born in the wilderness. Many long years ago.” Then it talks about boy Abe Lincoln, but uses the same rhythmic verse. “Boy Abe Lincoln lived rough with his family. Rough with his family Rough with his family. Boy Abe Lincoln lived rough with his family. Many cold snows ago.” On each page it keeps this same pattern to tell all about Abe Lincoln as he grows up.
