From the perspective of a Hongkonger, the book offers some readings into stories of Hongkong and Hongkongers, and some other cities in the world. It consists of 3 parts. The first part approaches Hongkongs history and culture, such as the history of Hongkongs social culture and the changes after Hongkongs return to China. The other two parts focus on some ideas of other cities across the world, like American cities. Mr Chen Guanzhong reflects upon and imagines Hongkongs past and future under the big complex topic, and his forborne love towards Hongkong lurks under his focus on the seeming trivialities and the residents welfare. He calls for Hongkongers acceptance and attention for its history, architecture, cultural heritage and communities, and tells people about the very charm of this blended and crowded semi- Chinese city, with the rational reflections on the future plan. With his extrordinary insight and sincere attitude, Mr Chen Guanzhong offers some unique perspectives into the contributions and constrains of the baby boomer generations to Hongkong. As a cosmopolitan resident of three Chinese cosmopolis-Hongkong, Taipei and Beijing, Chen Guanzhong punches the very spots that hurt most for Hongkongers who consider themselves people of the world but actually know little of it, with his reflection, observation and suggestions, and points out that the so-called Hongkong success has reaped the current profound conflicts from what it sowed. The author's description of Hongkong is regarded as the best work on Hongkong of all time. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
