Should have read the other 5 first as this is number 6, but it was the book of the day for cheap on Kindle Stephen Hunter's still one of my favorite authors, but this one fell a bit short of his typical, incredible standards. There were particularly two scenes that I thought moved into (if not crossed) the BS line. SPOILER ALERT. SPOILER ALERT. SPOILER ALERT. First, I don't think Bob Swagger would out quick draw Tom Constable, when Tom had been practicing as he had for years and years. Second, I definitely don't think he'd be able to shoot him in the hand as he drew the gun. And then one other mild complaint was the long standing sniper shot Bob Swagger took. While I know Stephen Hunter has shot a fair amount, I've certainly done so myself in the Marines. And I don't honestly think the shot he took in the standing at 534 yards is make-able. (And I shot expert in the Marines twice, and two of my buddies are the real deal USMC snipers -- note, I haven't asked if they could make that shot, but that's in part because I just know it's beyond the stretch of possibilities.) These three things are anomalies for Stephen Hunter. I still highly recommend all his books and I'd give my right arm to actually meet the guy. I even recommend this book. Stephen Hunter's still the man, and let not these small things I've described above deter you from pulling the trigger in the bookstore or online. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
