I've been an on and off collector of "Wisden" over the years so no unbroken run back to the nineteenth century for me I'm afraid. "Wisden Australia" was a newcomer to the "Wisden" stable, coming some 130 years after the first "Wisden Cricketer's Almanack" was published and never really caught on in Australia, lasting only a 1/2 dozen almanacs. I can see why as the Australian version never quite captured the original's joie de vivre and while it certainly would attract "Wisden" fans into Australian cricket, it didn't seem to extend its appeal enough to pay its way.

The structure of the Australian "Wisden's" is much the same as the traditional "Wisden"; a review of the season (obviously relating to Australian rather than English cricket), essays on parts of the game, lots of statistics, obituaries, book reviews and more. I'd like to think these Australian "Wisden's" will be worth big money one day; I have two editions so if someone wants to get in early and offer me $100 for each of them, please do. ( )
