Criminologist Miguel Acevedo had come face-to-face with his biggest challenge--Emma Richardson, guardian to a newborn baby and admitted psychic. The Native American beauty claimed to have information that could bring down a notorious criminal, but Miguel wasn't about to buy into her "abilities" so fast. Before long, though, Emma's leads attracted a killer and Miguel became her bodyguard. Now, as he watched her with the innocent baby and became captivated by her blue gaze, Miguel sensed his ordered world tilting on its axis. First he'd gone from skeptic to believer. Could the switch from confirmed bachelor to family man be far behind?… (mais)

Criminally Handsome
3 Stars

Series Note: The fourth book in the Kenner County Crime Unit series. Each book is written by a different author, but the ongoing story arc requires reading in order.

In this installment, Emma Richardson, a psychic medium and cousin to the missing woman from book #2 is paired with forensic scientist Miguel Avecado when Emma's visions lead to new evidence in the case of murdered FBI agent, Julie Granger.

This is the first time paranormal elements were included in the series and it feels out of place mainly due to the fact that the series has focused on forensics and science up until now.

Emma and Miguel's romance is also weak. They are complete opposites not only in terms of the occupations but in personality as well and they are not a good match for one another. Not only does their relationship feel forced but neither one is particularly likable. Miguel is consistently snarky about Emma's abilites, which she seems to find endearing but is in fact condescending. Emma comes across as naive and childish, and she has a huge TSTL moment at the end.

Thankfully, there developments in the ongoing story arc, which has been languishing over the last couple of books.

Dylan and Aspen's book is next and I'm hoping that it will be better. ( )
