O que posso dizer sobre este livro? Bem, ao princípio estava com algum receio de ler um livro de Mia Couto, pois não tinha a certeza de ter "desenvoltura" suficiente para tal. Agora depois de o ter lido... fiquei fã! É incrível como o autor moçambicano brinca com as palavras, fazendo parecer fácil escrever com tamanha originalidade.
O papel central do romance é assumido por Mwanito, o “afinador de silêncios”. Sobre isto, afirmou Mia Couto na apresentação da obra: “Em África, os silêncios são parte da conversa. O silêncio é uma outra maneira da palavra viver e há coisas que não podem ser ditas de outra maneira”.
Quantas vezes nos apetece fugir das cidades mas também da vida, da culpa e do tempo. Jesusalém seria a terra sem tempo nem dono, onde a solidão resgataria todas as mágoas. De preferência, procuraríamos que nada aconteça porque só o vazio faria sentido. O vazio e o silêncio.
