The good, I laughed and read out loud some of the poems to adults! The entire collection of poems is strangly-silly entertainment. The use of continuous personification is humorous," The trees where engaged in a football game..."
The bad, the book has no color. Children will not be visually stimulated by the book. I would just read the poems, and not show the illustrations. The book binder( the copy I have is not well made; it fell apart.)
The ugly, some humor is wicked. The poem, A Letter From Camp. A boy writes a letter to his parents from camp. He wrote
I have the runs, a hornet stung me on my forehead,by bunk mate wets his bed, and it ends with,"P.S I almost drowned."
Conclusion: This collection of poems is to be read with caution.
Classroom Extensions
1. Have the students draw pictures to a poem they read
2. The teacher can assign the students to read a collection of poems and the students will write the literary elements/theme of poems ( )
