This aptly titled book is not for the squeamish, certainly not the first few pages, and if you're worried about what you eat, it could apply to food section too. Crammed with photographs, definitely more snap-shot than art photography, Weird World provides a look at the more unusual side of life, neatly categorized under six main headings: People are strange (people), A taste for the unusual (food and shopping), Surreal wheels (transport), Eccentric animals (natural world), Crazy creations (art and architecture) and Indescribably strange (just plain odd). Most of the photographs are accompanied by a very brief caption, and there is a brief introduction to each section.

The book provides a fascinating glimpse into the unusual, and there is probably something for all tastes, from the horrific to the amusing, from the intentionally odd to the decidedly bizarre. However I do find the presentation rather too fussy. The page layout is crowded, cluttered and changeable, and the accompanying graphics are too busy and often unnecessary, they detract from the photographs. After a few pages I've had enough, a shame for the photographs are well able to stand on their own without all the accompanying devises. ( )
