I feel like their real chemistry got lost somewhere in the middle and then it was kind of Luke warm by the end. As for the actual sex scenes they felt very disjointed and mild? Idk I’d still count it as a sweet story... just very lemony ( ) I'm always hesitant to listen to books that are favorites for eyeball reading. Narrators can kill all that happiness if they're either not great at it or have quality issues or are just too different from what I've imagined voices and tones sounding like. I'm happy to report that I had a good experience with Abby Craden's narration and now have another option for my next reread. :-) I ended up enjoying this one. Largely, I really liked the character, Jorie, and I found the world building of the shifters and the lions and the pride dynamics to be interesting. I didn’t connect with Griffin quite as much, or this would probably be closer to a four, for me. I both love the trope (in fiction) where one character is very protective over another, but it also treads a fine line for me, and Griffin occasionally annoyed me with it, especially when Jorie is so clearly badass and capable. (It’s also possible I didn’t connect with her as much, because the voice the narrator used for her isn’t my favorite of the ones in her repertoire, and that is def just a personal bias thing). That said, it was nowhere near as bad as I’ve read in books like these with shapeshifters and overall I enjoyed it a lot! sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

A compelling, stand-alone lesbian paranormal romance, part one in the award-winning Shape-Shifter series. For solitary novelist Jorie Price, true love seems as fictional as the shape-shifting creatures she writes about in her paranormal romances. Griffin Westmore doesn't believe in love either, but she's one of those not-so-fictional shape-shifters who secretly live among humans. When Jorie's writing gets uncomfortably close to the truth, Griffin is sent to investigate and, if necessary, kill the author to protect the secrets of her kind. But when Griffin unexpectedly finds herself drawn to Jorie, her world is turned upside-down. Hell, she's supposed to kill the human, not fall in love with her! How can she complete her mission now?
