Historical Fiction

Another great chapter in Uhtred's life. The prose is very straightforward, and I can see how to some people that would be a turn off, but I love it. It's especially helpful during battle/fight scenes because I've always had trouble visualizing them and there's no flowery prose to confuse me.

We finally meet Finan!!! He was my favorite in the TV show and damn, he's a bit more intense in the book. There were a few times where I was like, "Finan, calm tf down, dude."

There is quite a lot more action in this book even though it mostly takes place in Northumbria. It also felt more violent too, but that may be because the second book didn't have much action in it, so in comparison this one feels more violent.

Overall, I'm so enjoying this series and looking forward to the next book! ( )

Another enjoyable one, glad to see Uhtred reunited with Ragnar, it’s better that way, but I feel I might be ruing that statement down the line. I hope not. ( )
