This pop-up is the story of a mouse's journey through a knight's castle. He sees bats, coat of arms, the newest trophy (a dragon's head), and the shiny knight. The text rhymes from page to page, giving it a kind of bouncy rhythm. The illustration style is paper art. Each portion of the image is a different color and layered upon each other, even though with the flat parts of the book, it is hard to tell. The background of the pages is done in a dark color, while the images in the foreground are done in vibrate colors which gives even the non 3-d portions of the book a pop. It is a very easy read allowed book for very young children and good book to help teach children how to read. There are other books by Robert Sabuda which follow the exact same pattern. They could be used to help with teaching children to read. I would recommend this book for 3 and up. ( )
