This is the third book in the Sabina Kane series, and as action-packed as the first two books.

In searching for her lost sister, our "trampire" follows the trail to New Orleans right at Halloween. And typical for series of any kind, some story lines are resolved, new ones are started, and the book ends with the threat of more mayhem to come in the next book.

We also add to the cast of "species" in this book. In addition to the mages (witches), vampires, werewolves, faeries and demons from the earlier books, we now also get zombies, a voodoo priestess and a secret society bent on no-good.

As always, the sub-story of Sabina's minion/demon/sometimes hairless cat Gighul is the best part of the series. His demon girlfriend has dumped him, leaving him free to flirt with a singing/dancing faery drag queen in New Orleans named Pussy Willow.

This has been a really fun series and looking forward to book 4 soon. ( )

I love Sabrina Kane, she is damaged, she is strong and she wants to better life for those she loves. She just can't seem to be comfortable with the whole 'love' thing. Big bad is coming for her, they have her sister and they want more, her. She fights to save her sister, her hot mage partner Adam and Mr Giggles her demon. The big bad has chosen to go through her friends to get to her. Things get complicated, choices have to be made, hard ones.
I loved the ending ! ( )

This book picks up right after the end of “The Mage in Black” with the kidnapping of Sabina’s twin sister Maisie by their grandmother Lavinia, who is also The Alpha Domina of all vampires.
Sabina plans to kidnap Persephone (who is the “soft” Domina of the triumvirate that controls the vampires) and exchange her for her sister, but things don’t go as planed and she ended up with Tanith instead, who is the Beta Domina.
Tanith betraying Lavinia tells Sabina that her sister is been held in New Orleans, she also proposes a vampire alliance with the Mages and the Fairies after Lavinia’s dead.

Tanith is taken to the Seelie Court in the Fairy Realm where the decision is made; Sabina will go to New Orleans, with the mage Adam and with her demon minion Gighul. Their mission is to rescue Maisie from Lavinia and the Caste of Nod hands, and to kill Lavinia. After her dead, the Fairies and Mages would be able to ally with the vampires (Tanith) and stop the war.

Sabina and her Team travel to New Orleans where they are helped by Rhea’s friend Zenobia, who is a human voodoo practitioner. In New Orleans we are introduced to new characters such as: Brooks/Pussy Willow (I know, “her” name have me cracking up) who is a changeling-drag queen. Mac a lesbian werewolf and her vampire lover, Georgia. We are also introduced to a famous rock star, Erron Zong, singer of Necrospank and his drummer Ziggy; who are mage recreants.

In this book Sabina is still as badass as in the previous books, but in this one she’s dealing with the emotional strain of having her sister kidnapped and tortured by their grandmother. She’s also learning to trust others; all her life she lived a solitary life and now she has people that care for her. She has feelings towards Adam but before she can accept what she’s feeling she needs to realize that is not necessary for her to continue using the hard and dark façade she had to build around herself to be able to survive her previous years. She also needs to learn that she can be loved and she can love too.

Adam Knows what Sabina is going through, he’s patient with her, even though sometimes the tension between them was very high. He’s always by Sabina’s side, but at the same time he let’s her discover by herself what she needs to do to accept her new life and be able to be with him. He’s smart, he’s caring, he’s handsome, he loves Sabina and he’s also good for her. (Sabina is a very lucky gal)

I love Gighul, Sabina’s Mischief demon. He’s incredibly funny; his snarky comments had me highlighting many pages of my book. He’s also loyal, and sometimes letting out his inner Oprah (Opry) he gives wise advises. He’s always there for Sabina and with his help Sabina can break many of her emotionally barriers. The backchat between Sabina and Gighul was always entertaining.

This book has action, suspense, romance, comedy and more.
The fighting scenes with the member of the Caste of Nod are very well developed, the characters are rich and entertaining, the description of the world is amazing and the end was everything I was expecting it to be an more. It let me wanting to know what’s going to happen next without involving any type of cliffhanger (I don’t like cliffhangers).
The book fast pace make it a page-turner that it’s difficult to put away. I think this is the best book of the series, I’m not saying the previous books weren’t good, they were great, but this book is excellent.
Ms. Wells’s outstanding writing had created an Urban Fantasy Series that are here to be known and stay for many more books to come.
The next book of the series “Silver Tongue Devil” would be released end of this year, I’m sure I’ll read it as soon as is available.

Green Eyed Demon is a major improvement over its predecessor. I laughed, I cried, I sniggered at the dirty, filthy orgy. Yes, you read correctly.

What made this so good other than Giguhl's rib-crackingly funny comments, was Sabina's growth. She's been through hell and is having to adapt quickly along the way. It's a rocky road. She makes mistakes. She gets knocked down but she always, always picks her wounded ass back up and lives to fight for another day.

Her fierce determination in protecting those she loves gives her pause. She loves? When did that happen? She's a kick-ass emotionless assassin. Since when did she love anyone, or have anyone to love her? She questions her identity. She was an assassin but who and what is she now? All this leaves her vulnerable and confused. She does her best to cope but the pressures of her sister's kidnapping, her homicidal grandmother and her undefined relationship with Adam, get in the way.

Speaking of Adam. The title refers to Sabina's jealousy regarding him and Giguhl. Her family. Hers. No one elses. They're there when she needs them: in battle, for advice and for a shoulder to cry on. The most useful advice comes from Giguhl (it's all that Oprah he watches) who tell her to seize the day because there may not be a tomorrow.

Sabina has so much to accomplish that she's advised to make a To Do List which went:

1. Perform voodoo ritual on evil owl.
2. Find out who sold us out to the anachronistic Caste vampires.
3. Make amends with lesbian werewolf.
4. Rescue twin.
5. Murder grandmother.

Surreal, no?

Anyway, this is fast-paced with lots of action, a little romance and tons of laughs. However, I can't give it 5 stars for one major reason which is difficult to explain without spoilers but I'll give it a shot. But you have been warned.

There were two characters that were near death. One was healed with the help of 3 very powerful mages but the other, only one for an injury that I would assume given the magic rules, would be impossible to "heal". Plus, the circumstances in which they were injured meant that person should be dead. This didn't sit well with me which is why it's taken me so long to write a review. But I can also see it from the author's point of view. This character was important and needed to survive but wanted to keep the "everyone thinks they're dead" angst (which was excellent by the way. It produced a highly emotional action scene).

I've never taken to Sabina's overly optimistic and wishy-washy sister so I was pleased she "suffered". I don't wish for her to be jaded, she just needs a bit more reality in her world view to make her more likeable.

The excerpt from the next book was intriguing. 114 days without violence, huh? Sounds dull. Not for long, I bet! ( )
