I learned how to be a good parent, before having any kids. Many will not read this book because they don't like Tiger Woods, the sex-crazed inhumane pig (as some would describe), but I see this book as much more than Tiger Woods. Yes, that IS who Earl was raising, but many great things can be learned from this inspirational book. So what makes this book so great? Umm.... well.... Earl Woods shows every reader that to make even one of the best athletes in the world, you cannot force the child to do anything they don't want to do. Earl always made sure Tiger asked him day in and day out to golf, not the other way around. Many people want to make their kids athletes and force the child into playing the sport(s) and it usually has an opposite affect than the intended purpose. I feel this is a great book about a great dad and a great athlete (despite some bumbs in the road). If you ever want to have kids, read this book. Also, if you like golf you should read this book. If you want to have kids and you like golf, you need to go the library right now, then write a review on how much you liked it. ( ) sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
Distinctions
An educator, top-ranked college ball player and Green Beret who served in Vietnam, Earl Woods reveals the instruction and training secrets that went into raising a child who might be the greatest golfer ever. His teaching method starts with the simplest swings: Putting, chipping and pitching, and doesn't introduce the full swing until the basics have been mastered. The book includes dozens of games and competitions to make golf fun and interesting, teaches mental toughness and emphasizes skills, posture, balance, set-up and grip. There are also some subtler points for parents to consider: when and how to introduce golf (or any sport) to their child; how to lay the groundwork for open communication; and how to cultivate the right attitude toward competition. Through an intelligent mix of instruction, humor and common sense, Training a Tiger helps parents everywhere lead their kids to love the game, and to play it with confidence, patience, proficiency and passion.
