This book has plenty of action and comedy, though I didn't care for the ending because I couldn't tell if that's where it ended or if there should be another book. 4/5 SV (10th grader) I chose this book because I needed something to read and I thought it looked interesting. AG ( )

An ancient evil warrior threatens a modern world where superheroes are real, but all the adult superheroes fall ill with plague and it is up to the teen superheroes to save the world.

The story starts with two threads, one set 4,493 year ago the other set in present-day or near future US. Set in the same world as his previous Quantum Prophecy novels it would probably help to have read them to understand some of the characters and their relationships to each other but not essential as there are new characters and new issues to be dealt with.

A virus is widespread across the world, incapacitating most of the adults, including some of the super-powered. This is part of a plan by a shadowy group who have their own super-powered working with them, they want to bring an immortal to the past to the present and will do anything and sacrafice anyone to achieve this aim.

I liked Lance, he's a great character, can talk his way in and out of almost any situation and while not super-powered he is a good member of the team. Abby also has potential and I'm looking forward to seeing more of both of them in the sequels.

It's a very readable story and I did get caught up in it, it just wasn't my favourite read. ( )

Super Human by Michael Carroll is one of the best books that I've read in a long time. It is the story of a group of misfit teenage superhumans (and some big time super heros) who come together to try and stop Slaghter and the Helotry from ressurecting the Fifth King.
With a great prolouge, ritch well devoloped charachters, and a great storyline this book deserves 4 stars.
I love the charachters in this book so much. They are so well devoloped and it is almost as if you know them personally while you're reading. Take Lance for inctance, on the surface he is a delinquint. He steals things, scams people, and dosent seem like he could do any good in the world. As the story progresses though you get to see more of Lance and realize that he actually has good intentions and he really is a good kindhearted kid on the inside.
The storyline in this book is really great. It's complicated but not too complicated to wrap your mind around. You start off with a lot of questions in the biginning that will all be answered by the end. The biggest reason that I love this book is that all through the book it has you thinking one thing and when you get to points in the book it throws you a huge curveball and everything you thought is all of a sudden wrong.
All in all this is the best book I've read in a long time and i would recommend it to anyone. ( )
