Book 5 picks up where Tapestry of Spells left off. Ruith and Sarah search for the fragments of his father's spells but now the question of Sarah's heritage has come up and she begins to discover who her parents really were.

Derek is on the hunt for those responsible for killing a family, leads to a warlock and Julie joining up with him after she was hired to locate a missing rock. Lots of tension between these two as they work together. Would have liked more, it ended too quickly.

The fifth book in the Nine Kingdom's series. Picking up where the last book ended it continues with the story of Ruith and Sarah. Ruith finds himself tied to a tree and discovers that Sarah has been kidnapped. He must free himself, survive his half-brothers who are bent on destroying him, and rescue Sarah. Together they must gather up the scattered remains of the evils spells of Ruith's father, Gair, before they fall into the wrong hands. Along this journey Sarah must also discover the truth about her past. An enjoyable series. ( )

As the second book of the trilogy, Spellweaver continues the gentle love story of Ruith and Sarah. The two main characters are moving along in their quest after a rather heart breaking ending to the first book. Feeling as though Ruith has betrayed her and her trust, Sarah is not very willing to continue on in her quest, but Ruith convinces her that his motives are pure. He wants to save the Nine Kingdoms from the threat of his father's evil and her brother's ambitions. What he has yet to convince her of though is that his heart is as pure as his intentions and she is the one that has captured it.

I think I am one of the few, if not the only, Kurland fan that prefers Ruith to Miach. I like his rough edges. I like that the story does not start off with him as the be all and end all of the Nine Kingdoms. Unlike his brother-in-law, Ruith has to grow through his stories. He starts as an immature hermit on the side of the mountain, hiding from his past and his heritage. But the story is his journey from that to a may worthy of the heroine, Sarah. Meanwhile, while Morgan is keen to run away from hard truths, at least for a little while, and impetuous enough to create situations that Miach has to save her from, Sarah is willing to face hard truths. Time and again she is faced with a need to confront and she takes on the responsibility willingly. She also seems to think through her own actions a bit better and look at the possible ramifications. That leads to her not forcing Ruith to save her from herself the way Morgan does to Miach. To some, that makes Miach seem much more gallant. To me, that shows that Ruith is just as willing, but smart enough to pick a woman who won't force it on him! :)

Either way, I am eagerly anticipating the ending to Ruith and Sarah's story and I hope that January comes soon! This second trilogy is not the heavy romance of the first, but I am optimistic that the last book will give Ruith and Sarah a few of the sweet moments that I loved so much from the first trilogy! :) ( )

5th book in Novel of the Nine Kingdoms series. These are fun science fiction reads with just a touch of the medieval that I love. Totally recommend! ( )
