While dated now, "South Australian cricketers 1877-1984" is the sort of publication that was extremely useful for cricket historians and statisticians in the days before the internet made collating career averages so much easier.

As can be gathered from the title, "South Australian cricketers 1877-1984" covers all the cricketers who played an official first-class match for South Australia in the 108 year period referred to, as well as their statistics for South Australia and their overall first-class average.

Amid the great and the good who played for South Australia, there are also the fascinating tidbits of information behind the players forgotten by history, none more so than Samuel Morcom, who played one first-class match (for "Rest of Australia" in 1871/72, and whose claim to fame was that was killed after being run over by a tram.½
