Jill Bearup

This books is a treasure and it made me so happy to read.
In the first few chapters you could tell this was the authors first book, but she quickly found her footing.
The pacing was great, the characters were engaging and a joy to get to know, and I loved the world building, even the silly parts. The conceit of the author interacting with her characters was fun. This book was fun, just so much fun.
I didn't find it to be a can't put down page turner, it was very much a book I could put down and pick up when I was able to read it again without getting lost or having to back track, and to me this is a strength. Life doesn't always let you sit down and read as much or as long as you would like and to have such a joyful book to pick up and escape into when I could was such a gift.

I am so hoping Jill Bearup continues to write because I really want to see where she goes from here.… (mais)

Oh that truly was a jolly romp! 10/10.
What started as a few YouTube shorts by Jill Bearup playing on a number of literary and cinematic tropes became the Fantasy Heroine story – 4 series of 10 episodes each (all 40 shorts, + extras in a single video: https://youtu.be/eEE_pqix1dQ?si=BI_bl2u6uXd5hp8S). Such was the popularity that the fans demanded a book – and “Just Stab Me Now” is the result.
Unsurprisingly, some changes from the videos - but keep in mind this wasn't intended to be a complete novel-length story. But the tale loses nothing in being put down on paper.
I recommend watching the video (link in original post) before reading the book, but it is not at all necessary.… (mais)
