Jim bought this for me for us to do book review together. Read it during the spring/summer of 2021. Jim and I exchanged emails through the first half of the book answering the questions together, but unfortunately did not finish. I enjoyed parts of the book, but not necessarily the author's theology. It was very specific to leadership from a pastoral perspective and made me think of my mom and dad a lot in terms of the struggles they went through. Full of plenty of good lessons about leadership pain, but not necessarily worth the long read. Not going to get a huge recommendation from me unless its to someone struggling as a pastor or considering becoming one.… (mais)

Very helpful in communicating the message that the level of one's ability to lead is directly connected to one's ability to endure pain. The bigger your dream, the bigger your pain... The illustrations of pain and heartbreak in the book were very helpful for me to gain perspective on the leadership pain I experienced in the past.
