The Medium of Death: A Sherlock Holmes Adventure por Barry Clay
Best of his three full-length Sherlock Holmes tales, which are easily the best I've found in a crowded field. He pays particular attention to the characters, especially Watson.

Another excellent outing from Mr. Clay. Good, well paced story, satisfying solution. The character of Watson gets special attention here, in a couple touching scenes having to do with the loss of his wife.
I've been reading Holmes pastiches for fun for a couple months now, and have found they're all over the place in terms of quality. I've read one whole series of eight books and several by other authors. This is the first one I've read by Barry Clay, and I can say without any reservation that it's the best one I've read by a country mile. Great story, interesting characters, well paced, and most importantly, it sounds like Sherlock Holmes in my head. He's only written a few of these, and I intend to read them all.… (mais)
