Pairing the work of Ginette Legaré and Louise Noguchi in this exhibition arises from parallels in their working process rather than a similarity of materials or iconography. A first impression presents two visually distinct bodies of work, but they are connected through a way of working, a modus operandi, that explores subjective relationships with the commonplace and the psychological spaces that lie within it. Both artists draw upon materials and images that circulate within our daily experience, but their placement of them within the aesthetic realm of art and the gallery creates a different and often perplexing reading of what we may take for granted.'

Published on occasion of the touring exhibition held at the CAG from February 16 - March 17, 1990.

Also toured to the Art Gallery of Windsor June - July 1990.

'Leisure, and the history of the use of "leisure time", sometimes implying contemplation and rest, is nevertheless an integral part of "the tour", as travel cannot be without the time to undertake it. So, if leisure does have its perils, tourism will also, and any introduction to these works must acknowledge these interrelations, and many others that these artists introduce to these twin subjects; subjects that are demonstrably vital to any history of ruling classes and the critique of the ways that we experience the extention of that domination at the end of the twentieth century.'

Catalogue published on occasion of the exhibition of the same name, and the ten year anniversary of the CAG.

'It is often easy to lose track of those who have helped shape the present structure. This exhibition seeks to document the history and to reconnect with artists who were part of that past'
