I've completely forgotten to review this graphic novel and I seem to have managed to delete the screencaps that I took (or lost them among all my pics on the computer), But I will soldier on and write a review from that I remember (dear God)...

I find Jack the Ripper fascinating to read about, but let's face it, there are a lot of books, movies etc. dedicated to the world's most famous killer that it's hard to come up with something new. What I enjoyed with this story was the interesting explanation to what caused Jack the Ripper to murder. The second part, which takes place in France, is in my opinion the best part since that shows that there is not one killer loose in the world, but several and you get an explanation to everything. Of course, we had to have a part when the main character, Inspector Frederick Abberline, jumps into bed with a woman he just met. Because some nudity in graphic novels sells.

The art is superb and it's too bad that I can't show it. But it's really that kind of art I want to see when I read a graphic novel that takes place in the Victorian era.

I want to thank the publisher for providing me with a free copy through Edelweiss for an honest review!

I received this from Edelweiss and Dark Horse comics in exchange for an honest review.

Not much to say about this one. It's yet another rendering of the Jack the Ripper tale, but this time tied to murders in Paris that occurred during the year between the first murders in London and the later murders. Nothing new presented, the regular cast of characters is here, but there is an intriguing twist.

The artwork was good and captured the time period pretty well.

"We all have a little madness in us trying to get free, detective..." This was highly entertaining. There are a couple sexual scenes (They don't call 'em graphic for nothing) in it and I think it is a high school + read, but there is something about the action and drama that would appeal to teenage readers.

It’s the spring of 1889 and it has been months since the last Ripper kill in Whitechapel. The case has gone cold and Scotland Yard has moved on to other cases. However, Inspector Frederick Abberline just can’t let it go. When a string of eerily similar murders begin to terrorize Paris, he heads there to continue his investigation. But what he discovers is even worse than he could ever have imagined and soon not only his life but his sanity are in jeopardy.

The graphic novel Jack the Ripper, written by Francois Debois and illustrated by Jean-Charles Poupard, was originally released in 2012 by Editions Soleil in France and is now being reissued by Dark Horse in English for the first time. The story is well-crafted and gives an interesting take on the Ripper murders while the artwork is, in a word, beautiful. Overall, a very nice edition to the Ripper lore.… (mais)
