This was a fairly straightfoward and basic guide to creative writing. I read it as part of a course and thought it was worth it.

4 stars!

Similar in spirit to the famous A Dead Man in Deptford, but predating it by twenty years, this is a lively, clever and densely-written novel bristling with period flavour. DeMaria has a particularly good feel for the boisterous underbelly of London life, and his reading of Marlowe himself is generous and subtle: the kind of brilliant young man who isn't quite brilliant enough to see the danger he's getting into.

More accurate but to me less effective than the version of the affair in Wilder's Ides of March
