Over in the Hollow by Rebecca Dickinson is a fun fictional rhyming book. This picture book is also a unique counting book that gives a silly twist to all things spooky. This picture book is great for Halloween and is also a fun way to get children to learn to count.
This book is a counting book. There are magical things happening in the hollow. Spiders, mummy's, owls, ghosts, vampires, witches, bats, frankenstein, and more creatures live in the hollow and dance to the beat of their own song. There is a graveyard that should be avoided, and pumpkins giving off a welcoming glow on the porch. There is no story line, but the hollow is a lively place. The genre of the book would be fantasy because animals and objects begin to sing and talk. The story does not have a plot, it is simply a fun read. The text can be distracting, but there are rhymes that demand the readers attention. The illustrator did a great job of telling the story through pictures in this book.… (mais)
This is a very unique counting book. We have spiders and mummies, owls, vampires, and bats, witches and other monsters. This would have been great for Halloween. It is a very cute book. It is a fun way to teach children to count.
Pretty cute, but the pictures steal the show. Awesome pictures. They would be 5 stars.
