Gloaming: A Strange Tale of Enchantment (The Wonder… por Charlotte E. English
My attention was drawn to this rather gentle fantasy because of a peculiarly split world and its related mysteries. And problems to sort, of course. The setting is richly described, a bit heavily for my tastes, though bear in mind I usually read lean prose. We follow several characters as they play their parts in unravelling the mystery. I’m not sure I always managed to keep track of who was who. Somehow, they didn’t feel all that distinctive. This might have been because they seemed to be pushed along by the plot rather than being individuals making their own decisions.

I think this would appeal to readers who enjoy lush descriptions and a world that doesn’t have a grim or dark mood.… (mais)

Wyrde and Wild (House of Werth Book 3) por Charlotte E. English
This third volume of the House of Werth is more of a straight-forward mystery than the previous books. A corpse has landed in Lady Werth's favorite parlor, ruining her light-blue carpet. For once, Theo is not to blame. The family has to solve who did kill the famous actress or Theo will hang for the crime.

In this second novel set in an alternative Regency England, gussie Werth has accepted her fate as a wyrded member of her bizarre family. Meanwhile, the issue of the violent, magical and murderous books has progressed to a crisis and Bow Street is taking an interest in Gussie and her family.

Wyrde and Wayward (House of Werth Book 1) por Charlotte E. English
An interesting alternative fantasy story, sort of a cross between Heyer and the Addams Family. Augusta is the only member of her family that does not possess a "wyrde", which is some sort of supermatural talent or aspect. but it seem she is in demand anyway, after she declines an invitation to visit from another famly she is kidnapped and forced to attend their house-party.
