So this author is really good at setting up the next book in the series. These books are starting to feel like crack, and I don't really like books set in contemporary dialogue because the slang in dialogue tends to become obnoxious, which was more a problem in the first book because there was a human character than there was in this book. There are some weird creative decisions that make me pause because of the implications of said creative decisions like: If demons can get drunk off of animal milk, where are they getting their supply of giraffe milk, and what does Isabella think of this ( I was hoping for a reaction to it in this book, but it never happened)? or Why use the word Lycanthrope, which refers specifically to werewolves if they are just shapeshifters? or If Lycanthropes' hair is like an appendage, when it becomes fur do they become more vulnerable? or Does the author know that a mountain lion screaming just sounds like a woman screaming? There is also the problem of there not being an HEA for the characters in the first book because of that prophecy about their children, and that the pregnancy is apparently going to last for several books because the gestation period for a demon is... different. It leaves their story open-ended, which is part of the reason I am still reading these books because I crave narrative fulfillment. I thought that this relationship would be more interesting, and I found my attention wavering because there is so much setup for other things, and I think the angst for this particular relationship could have been drawn out more. Like imagine if Legna actively avoided Gideon because of their past or if Noah actually had a problem with their age difference (there must be norms about this considering that Gideon is literally a thousand years old). Also, Corinne really gets the short stick in these books where she isn't really a character so much as she is a plot device.

This book was wonderful and I truly adored it. The world was so rich and interesting, the characters vibrant and full of life, the love story was charming. I can't believe it's not a series, I would love to read the stories of the rest of the pack. Five stars.

I picked this book up in a thrift store for .99. I figured if it's awful, no harm no foul. I was pleasantly surprised.

Billed as a paranormal romance, this book could have been more erotica than paranormal romance. It is not. Yes, as is common with the romance genre there are sex scenes, but it's not every two pages at the sacrifice of having a fully developed story.

Also, having read a ton of the genre, there is always the concern of "it's already been told." This series is unique. I will continue through it.

Okay, I have very mixed feeling about this anthology.
The stories were interesting and I do love my sci-fi but
Wasted words for stories that are so short.
All had potential. They did get me interested in at least one of the authors.
All had erotic scenes. But all needed a lot of improvement.

So I noticed the love interest's name is omitted from the summary, back of book, etc. Even online and such she is often left unnamed.

Now that was weird, but this book was on many websites and discount bins as three dollars. 3$! In fact on Ebay and multiple other selling sites this is one of the top books for sale at phenomenal prices such as two to three dollars with free shipping!

This almost ties in perfectly with the stuff I am fixing to discuss about it, both the price and the marketing.

So Jacob is a very stick up his ass stickler for the rules. He's above everything. He's an enforcer of the law and a punisher of all who fall, unintentional rhyme aside, he's THAT character in every book with one. All the boxes ticked for this is going to go forbidden romance route. I know a bit about him by now. But the female is sort of vagued on and on about. First the summary and book back, but then I figure out why.

Her name is Bella. His name is Jacob.

Once this is put out there the personalities really start to make sense. This whole book is Twilight AU fanfiction. And once I realized that, I DNF'd it. It wasn't that interesting to begin with and I was just hanging on to hopefully see some good conflict and writing.

I should probably have given up the book the moment I realized that the story wasn't working for me. But as this is a book I have received home I just kept going. There are probably people out there who will love this book, but I just couldn't enjoy it. The beginning was OK, but then the story just turned to a lust parade with the two main character lusting after each other like two dogs. In the end, I just wanted them to have sex so that this prolonged lusting could go away.

I freely admit that I skimmed the book at the end to finally finish it so that I could read something more suiting to me.

Thank you Piatkus for providing me with a free copy for an honest review!

Nightwalker series . . . Jacob is an Earth Demon and the feared Enforcer of his people. Finds a human woman (librarian) who is descended from Druids and just so happens to fulfill prophecy about saving the Demon race. Once mated, pair cannot be separated without causing death to the Druid. Future books will come about Noah (king and fire Demon), his sister Magdelegna (mind Demon) and Gideon (body Demon), etc.
Very much like Christine Feehan’s Dark series in terms of writing quality. Wonder if Frank will be able to keep the plots interesting enough to read more? (Unlike Feehan)

I only read two of these stories, Kate Douglas' and Jacquelyn Frank's. I have read all of Kate's 'Fire" books and wanted the next. It can be read without having read the other novels in the series, and as such makes a nice taste into the world, I'd reccomend reading the others for a fuller understanding of the background.

Frank's story was definitely part of a series. I am curious about this series. I'll have to price it out.

Though labeled Volume One on the inside, I've never seen a trace of a Volume Two, which surprises the hell out of me, since one-name artist Adam's covers for the HIS 69 line – then only a year old – appear to have been hugely popular. So what reader wouldn't have wanted an oversized (8"x11") collection of frontal nudes, many variations on those cover images? And for $3.00, when the price of a single novel was $1.95?

This was a pretty spectacular book, this is the first thing I have ever read from Jacquelyn Frank, and I must sit here and wonder how come it has taken me so long to read her stuff. I've had this series on my TBR for, forever now and just now picked up a book from here. I'm so glad I did because this book was much like alot of what I read but also different with it's plot and character base. I enjoyed it alot and will most definitely be continuing on with this series.

Since I started out this series thinking for some odd reason the Damien was the first book, I had read that first. So I decided better start from the beginning, and well so I did and it put some things into perspective, and I understand some things a little more now like a little but more on Ruth. But this book was very enjoyable to read. Books like me is the reason I lo e books so much, that with all the crap that can go on in and outside a relationship they always manage to work things out

This book was great. It is unfortunate that it is a stand alone and we will probably never hear more about the other men in Reule's Pack. But I was totally enthralled with the book and would read it again because it was that enjoyable.

Elijah is a Demon Warrior Captain, Siena is the Lycanthrope Queen. I wanted to like this story but Siena comes across and spoiled, child for a good chunk of it. The last half was much more interesting as various factions of Nightwalkers come together to fight the necromancers and the rogue demons.

Gideon is an ancient Body Demon and Magdelegna is a relatively young Mind Demon. He spurned her once and she's reluctant to trust him again, but they are Imprinted Mates.

Listened to audio, some of the jumps in the beginning were hard to follow in the narrated version. Kestra is a mercenary and Noah is the ruler of the demons. They dream of each other and fight the pull, until an event forces Noah's hand. I liked this one better than previous stories.

Kane by Jacquelyn Frank - 4
Demon breaks the law by touching a human, turns out she's his mate and not being with her almost kills her, once he's with her he has to fight his violent lusts in order not to hurt her. Interesting story

Damien is the Prince and leader of the vampires and Syreena is a unique lycanthrope. To save her life he drinks from her, which had been forbidden. It's a little chaotic, while they try to deal with all the changes and dangers of sharing blood, they also are fighting an evil rogue Demon. Listened to audio, narrated by Xe Sands, not my favorite narrator

Jacob is the Demon Enforcer, he protects humans from demons that succumb to madness. He meets Bella during a hunt. After she kills a summoned demon he takes her with him to discover why she is so unusual. Interesting world where Nightwalkers are more in tune with the Earth and human necromancers are evil. Some things seem to easy but it was an interesting take on demons.
