His rich understanding of Malay language and culture, combined with a sincere and sympathetic character earned him great confidence and affection of all his patients, from Sultan to the humblest Malay peasant.

This book is worth reading if you are into Malay medicine and history of Malay medicine. Many recipes are written and makes you aware of how people have used poisons. It is scary to know too.
