Christoper Hart

As with all of the series of miniature books produced by the Erotic Print Society on matters erotic, this is a charming collection of erotica, surprisingly plentiful, as illustrations to Christopher Hart's essay on sex in Queen Victoria's era. It is well known that the lady herself was greatly enamoured of Prince Albert, and it is likely that the pair got up to all sorts of things that most people today would not expect, given the impossibly high moral tone which perfuses our prejudices of their life and times. Of course, its size and format precludes the book being an authoritative work, but as an amusing introduction to the fully erotic nature of the Victorian era it succeeds brilliantly. I suspect that 'our dear queen' of those days would find it very useful as a bedside accompaniment when darling Albert was obliged to make one of his trips 'up-country'.
