Not for the casual reader, but a superb book, nonetheless. This book offers invaluable insight into the relations between Romania and the major players of the second world war, Germany, Britain, the U.S., and most significantly, Russia. Although the latter chapters do get bogged down by statistics, the book describes very well Romania's perception of a just war, its subsequent desperation and isolation, and the closed door politics of the allies. The strength of the book lies in its description of the brutal but very thorough usurption of power by the Soviet Union through the Red Army.… (mais)
