Críticas

This is a delightful collection of photographs from the 1920s, taken from the Collection of Uwe Scheid and provided with introductory material by Walter Hönscheidt. It comprises high quality images of provocatively dressed young women in scenarios predominantly associated with contemporary motor cars, which were notoriously unreliable, and required frequent mechanical attention, sometimes involving revealing poses of the driver. The decade is legendary for both the emergence of style in the design of cars and for the increasing popularity of entertaining photography, and the collection presents a fascinating combination of the two, although it is biased towards presenting its females in a voyeuristic way, aided by the almost innocent informality of the underwear that prevailed during the era. The short text provides an adequate context for the images, which mostly involve one or two voluptuously fleshy women. It is beautifully produced in the fine tradition of Benedikt Taschen.
