Ok, I'm done! Not going to try and read anymore of this box set. I am a PNR/UF reader and well I just can't force myself to finish this box set. I am not sure why the publishers/authors decided to add a PNR in the mix? Maybe they wanted to introduce PNR to Contemporary readers.

I have only Read Liar Liar by J.A. Coffey, Dangerous Flames by Wendy Ely, A Decade for Darius by Dorothy Callahan, Still Hot for You by Diane Escalera & Spanish Nights by Valerie Twombly!

I knew Adam and Jenny's story was going to be tough to read, and I wasn't wrong. Seeing them be all happy and married in much of book one ( Famous in a Small Town ) and then him nearly dying in the tornado and then his bitterness and their distance from each other in book two ( Rebel in a Small Town ) was difficult enough--seeing things from their perspectives, though? Was sure to be even harder.

And it was...and wasn't.

It was a relief to see the reasons behind what they were doing, even when I didn't agree with them--and there were parts that I strongly disagreed with. Why couldn't they just see that they still had a life, a future together? That she wasn't pitying him, and that Jenny and the kids didn't "deserve" better? Couldn't she see that Adam really was trying?

This book was hard to read, but rewarding at the same time, because Adam and Jenny do (eventually--talk about waiting until the last minute; argh!) figure it out. And watching two people who have been together forever but are just finally figuring out how to really be together at last makes for one heck of a story. I'm really looking forward to seeing them together again in future series books, as they continue to work their way through being a stronger, better family together :)

Breakup is the third book in the series, and though you do have enough background here for it to work okay as a standalone, it will have a lot more impact if you've read the first two books first and have seen this one coming up in the rearview. Plus, the first two books a great stories in their own right, so you'll be doing yourself an extra-special favor by reading them all. ;)

Rating: 4 stars / B+

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

What is it that will make any HEA complete? It’s doesn’t take a genius to know the answer can only be the child a couple has hopes to create one night through one of their compassionate love-making interaction. While this is true, having a secret baby or hiding one’s surprise pregnancy at times can cause the desire to even have a HEA to be thrown asunder. But, at the same time, having this occur also creates the opportunity to see how strong, when push comes to shove, the relationship between two loving individuals actually is.

This is the basic scenario in each of the six stories contained in this anthology. While it might help if the reader has already been in any similar situation as depicted in each story’s brief descriptions, I believe these are stories any woman can easily relate to. You might find yourself and your empathy for each of these endearing couples coming to the surface as you read each of these stories; and if it does, just allow yourself to feel any emotion you might be having and feel what the female protagonist is feeling.

Given the above you’ll see the reason I’ve decided to give the authors involved in this collection 5 STARS for their endeavor.

Protecting the Quarterback is an entertaining sports themed romance novel that has everything a reader could ask for: football and romance. Written in a sassy fashion, author Kristina Knight grabs the reader's attention with an intriguing storyline that easily draws the reader into sports broadcaster Brooks Smith and professional football quarterback Jonas Nash's story as they embark on a journey to discover what really matters the most to them. Filled with enough drama, humor, and passion, this is one romance story that will keep your interest as their love story unfolds.

Brooks and Jonas are realistic and down-to-earth people who are dedicated and passionate about their careers, and they have insecurities and issues that are believable and easy to relate to. Both are strong, complex individuals whose witty banter and sizzling interactions creates a powerful story that the reader can embrace. I absolutely enjoyed both of these characters, I couldn't help but cheer for them as they discover that they can balance their careers while falling in love with each other.

Protecting the Quarterback is a lighthearted and passionate love story that every football fan will love to read. Romance fans, if you want a fast-paced sports themed story that has a wonderful mixture of football, drama, and passionate romance, then this is the book for you!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author / publisher in exchange for my honest review and participation in a virtual book tour event hosted by Goddess Book Tours.
