Liked A Good First Marriage is Luck (interview), Stalin Lenin Robespierre(bookseller, gay roomies), Lifetimes of the Soviet Union (one human life span, three generations). Five O'Clock Somewhere by Gary Indiana was touching.
Especially liked: - Introduction (fast ride through generations and insight into Zeitgeist) - Vigdis Hjorth; Repetition (observations of disquieting parent-child relationship) - James Scudamore; Ecce Senex: Stephen James Joyce (almost funny account of ghostwriting for a difficult customer, but remaining deeply humane) - conversation between Sheila Heti and Phyllis Rose (of "Parallel Lives") - You’re a Londoner with photographs by Kalpesh Lathigra and introduction by Guy Gunaratne - Ralph Webb; proper Country (yet another keen look at disquieting social settings) - Didier Eribon, The Life, Old Age and Death of a Woman of the People (touching) - Samuel Moyn; The Trouble with Old Men (current, on political situations)… (mais)
