I'm generally a sucker for Civil War and coming of age novels, but it took longer than usual to care about this character, Elias Abrams. I did, however, appreciate following Elias as he grew up and changed.

(I listened to this on playaway, which I don't think was a major issue one wy or the other in the enjoyment.)

Difficult to get into it at the beginning - listened to it on audio, however, glad I stuck with it - ended up liking it after all.

Good book, the storyline feels familiar, but throws in a few twists and turns so that it surprises the reader and keeps them interested.
I just love how some people are able to have such hope in such dire situations sometimes and this book capitalizes on that.
