Excellent series (combo Ray Bradbury and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo)

I have not like a series so much since The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo — these are a combo of what I remember of reading Ray Bradbury decades ago. I cannot even stop writing long enough to write full reviews. I already purchased the others in this series and more by this author!

By now we are familiar with Donal and Myron and to what great lengths they will go for a story as journalists in this futuristic story set in London. A story about imports from the planet Mercury will have them doing just that. They also find out that not all of the off-world immigrants have the best intentions, causing them to take chances to get the story again. Then, student protesters cause a riot at the dome, which could be another big story for the two friends.

And we know we will be learning some scientific information along the way because the author teaches us a few things in each book. Politics, science, problems mirroring our own are told through story.

I am happy there are several books in this series as I enjoy them so much.

Great for teachers of gifted education who love reading

A murder mystery, travels around Dublin, a MENSA meeting with members from different counties, and police gathering clues all make for an entertaining read. The solution is puzzling and it takes even MENSA members some time to problem solve. The story keeps you guessing until the very end. I learned more about sight seeing around Dublin, too.

I like this book as it describes and advocates for understanding of gifted people.

I taught gifted education and was smiling at the jokes and comments about the subject.

Fun and Informative read

From the book:
“Every time Jackie thought she understood racing there was more to learn.”
Every time I turned a page, there was more for me to learn — horse terms and Irish ways of speaking. I had to look some terms up and some I could figure out.
My daughter rode horses and would tell me all about her experiences. This is my first horse book, though. It helped to be familiar with some of the ideas.
My actual middle name, really, is McClamroch, so it is good for me to be able to understand Irish phrases I am not familiar with living in the USA. Such fun.
Silks, I learned, is what Jockey’s wear. My daughter had to tell me that before I read the book.
Sins is when harm comes to the beautiful horses — which is prevented.
Although Jackie has an interesting time with her jockey boyfriend!
