Obviously Jimmy Page read my review of his previous book, [b:Jimmy Page by Jimmy Page|22164976|Jimmy Page by Jimmy Page|Jimmy Page|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1400939131l/22164976._SX50_.jpg|41506314] (yes, I'm being quite sarcastic), and fixed the one problem I had with that book.

This time, Page still offers up a massive book full of gorgeous photos of his instruments, his rockstar wardrobe, and a treasure trove of other memorabilia generated over a lifetime of being a celebrated musician. But he also provides a lot of actual writing to bring context to the imagery.

I'd complained that there was likely less than 3000 words in his previous book. This one boasts more than 70,000, so you're arms will give out from the weight of the book before your eyes will.

I'm glad he took time to write a lot this time, because his memories of not only which instrument he played, but why he chose that particular one, gives a lot of insight into the genesis of various songs and albums. Page is a very interesting guy, and he's seen a lot, been to a lot of places, interacted with the greatest musicians of the past six decades, and he's got the memories and the stories to prove it.

Just a big fat beautiful book, and well worth the price.

While this is a lovely—and lovingly curated—book, be forewarned that is very much a "pictorial autobiography"...that is, I'd be shocked if there were more than 3000 words of text, aside from captions, throughout the 500 pages.

That being said, it truly is a chronicle of Page from his very start to the print date of the book. Yes, there's a good smattering of shots with Jeff Beck, Plant, Bonham, Jones, Coverdale, the Black Crowes and the various others that Page has collaborated with over the years, but at least 90 percent of the photos are of Page and Page alone.

Which, of course, is to be expected in a pictorial autobiography of Jimmy Page by Jimmy Page.

Still, all in all, a fascinating look into one of the best and most celebrated guitarists of our time.
