"The heels, the legs, the gun. I've never been more turned on."

You know that saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend"? Well in this case, the enemy of my enemy is my soulmate - my hot, steamy, soulmate.

So, we have Bratva Queen of the Fallen Kings, Arianna Ivanova. She's ruthless, beautiful, and you certainly wouldn't want to cross her. Then, we have Alejandro Santiago, the Kingpin of the Columbian Cartel. He's just as ruthless and mouth-watering. Each of them have the other in their crosshairs. But, they also have a common target. Stefano DeMeo. Protective of the ones they love, and of each other, Alejandro and Ari will stop at nothing to see that the threat is neutralized.

The desire between Alejandro and Ari burns just as hot as their desire to eliminate their common enemy. Between the gunfire or between the sheets, these two are off the charts!!

I loved this story! It was balanced perfectly between the action and suspense, and the underlying love story and steam. The characters, even the secondary ones were well-developed and I hope, hope, hope, some of them get their own stories too.

There are some cross-references and characters mentioned from this author's Redeeming Love series. But, while I highly recommend you read that series as well, you do not have to have read it to read Falling for the Enemy.

This was an amazing start to this series, and I can't wait to read the next one!!

I cried, laughed, was angered, and disgusted--disgusted by the actions of the characters. Ok, two characters in particular. I do think that I would have had a better understanding of the characters had I read the previous four books--which are now in my Amazon list.
Some of the content was a bit difficult to read--the details from Clara's abusive marriage and the things her husband did to her. But these horrific events shaped Clara into the strong and independent woman that she is. I did have to walk away from the book a few times when some of those scenes were particularly graphic or when children are involved. It was gratifying to see how much Clara changed and became a stronger woman. In the end, she stood up for herself and the children. Something that not every abuse victim is able to do.

Clara is a woman trapped. For years she was trapped in an abusive marriage to Colin with her two little boys. She did everything to protect her angelic boys from their father. She made sure that she took all of Colin's anger. Finally, she was able to leave and live into a battered women's shelter. The shelter saved her life. Saved her boys.

Three years later, she has finally gotten herself together. She has a shabby apartment (an apartment that she is able to pay for herself), a job at the shelter, and friends. Too bad her creepy landlord keeps asking for his rent in forms other than money and most of her appliances are broken. Oh, and she barely has any food for their little family. Money is extremely tight lately since her hours were cut at the shelter. It takes everything to accept help from her best friend Hope and her fiance, Evan. Evan even threatens to call his twin brother if Clara doesn't accept his help. Evan's brother is everything Clara can't have. He's a successful lawyer with an adorable little girl, Bella. Brantley is too gorgeous for her. Too nice....too everything. He makes her stupid whenever he's around. Lucky for her that Brantley lives in Memphis. She lives in Georgia.

Brantley decided that he wanted to move closer to family especially his twin brother Evan. Evan's fiancee just gave birth to his nephew a few months ago. Brantley wants his daughter Bella to know her cousin and be around his brother's new family. What better way than to buy the house across the street from Evan and Hope. Brantley isn't sure what he's more excited about--seeing his family or being closer to Clara and her boys. He met Clara through Evan and their circle of friends. Every time Clara is more gorgeous. Even better, she treats his daughter like her own. Every interaction he has with her makes his heart melt. He will do what ever it takes to make her his.

Clara doesn't know what to think about Brantley opening a law firm and hiring her to manage it. Or the fact that she's Bella's part time nanny. Now, she can afford to move out of that dump. Away from Icky Dickie. But the couple have a few issues to resolve beginning with Brantley's crazy gold digging ex-wife. A woman who calls Bella names and neglects the sweet little girl. A little girl who only wants her mother to pay attention to her--act like a mother. Something that Clara has been doing from the moment she met Bella. Clara's boys already treat Bella like a little sister. But after Brantley refuses to give his ex more money things go down hill for the couple. His ex comes to town with the sole purpose of hurting Clara and getting more money.

Will his ex tear them apart? Or will Clara's nightmares and insecurities break their relationship? Can Brantley heal the broken pieces of Clara? Can he give her boys the security they need?

"I may be your Prince Charming, baby, but it is wasn't me who was busy slaying your demons. That's all you. All I did was hand you the sword."

Oh, my heart! I am so sad to see this series come to an end, but in all honesty, I'm not sure my heart could have taken much more! This author holds the title of the only one to make me cry over a book - and I read a LOT of books.

And while every other book in the series is a tear-jerker and a heart-shredder, this duet topped them all!! Pop's and Carmen's story is just amazing. They were both so broken, but were drawn to that same brokenness in each other. Then, the unspeakable happens and my heart broke all over again.

Then a miracle happens and my heart was put all back together again and just overflowed with all the feels! I laughed, and yes, I cried - tears of laughter, joy and pain.

If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend it. If you have, and you just haven't read Pop's & Carmen's story, what on earth are you waiting for!! Have the tissues handy though. You're going to need them!!

I cannot wait for the spin-off series from this author!! It's going to be amazing!

"I'm falling in love with you James Cole, and there's no stopping it now."

Lord, this is another heart-wrenchingly beautiful story from this author. It's a wonder my heart has survived this series, I swear.

First, we have Carmen. A Colombian beauty queen, she is ripped from her family and into the hands of the local drug lord, where her life is utterly destroyed. Given as a "gift" to one of his henchman, she is now forced into a life of drugs and selling the one thing she promised she would never surrender - her body. She's incredibly broken, but at the same time incredibly strong. One day she'll find a way out and she'll rescue Jade and Ashley too. Then she meets James "Pop" Cole, and its hard to tell who will end up rescuing who. She can finally see a future with no more pain, but will she live to see it?

Then we have James Cole. If you've read this series, you know what kind of man he was and you probably didn't like him very much. Well, get ready, because James is going to wiggle his way into your heart and stay there. He's broken, just like Carmen. He's fought so hard to leave the man he was in the past and become the man and father he wants to be, but he just can't shake the guilt. When he literally runs into Carmen, he sees the darkness in her just like the darkness he carries inside himself and he can't just let her walk away. He'll rescue her from the monster that has her if it's the last thing he ever does. But, time is running out.

I will tell you that I NEVER cry when reading a book. I'm just not that way. However, this author, to date, is the only one that makes me do just that. She puts her characters through so much, and I swear, her readers feel all the pain too. But, while each character goes through the wringer, they always come out stronger on the other side and with a happily ever after. Now, this book is part 1 of James and Carmen's story so don't expect that HEA. At least not yet.

If you haven't read this series, please do. They do have triggers of addiction, abuse, trafficking, and others so if you are sensitive to those, enter with caution. But, if you do read the series, you'll wonder what took you so long.
