I ordered this book by mail order, never having seen it, and when it arrived it exceeded my expectations. There is a profusion of colour reproductions of original patterns and needlework items (pages 20-145) and an essay on the history of the phenomenon. Then the author has provided charts and DMC color numbers for a great many of the designs. In addition the uncharted pictures could be used as a starting point for one's own designs. So whether one's interest is in studying Victorian decorative arts, reproducing patterns stitch by stitch, or design, it is a very useful source.… (mais)
This is a gorgeous book. The charted designs in the back are worth twice, no thrice, the cost of the book.
