Survey of Historic Costume: A History of Western Dress por Phyllis G. Tortora

A decent general fashion history book meant for a college survey course & not a researcher of specific clothing styles and/or eras. Doesn't go into much detail on any particular era, but instead gives an overview of everything worn during a certain set of years. (Example, chapter 14 of the 2nd edition covers the years 1870-1900.) Each chapter does start off with a brief historical overview, and ends with a list of selected readings relating to the material.
